PORT MAARTEN – SCHEDULE OF THE CRUISE SHIPS PORT ST MAARTEN ( PHILIPSBURG )
Harbour Point Village To further facilitate the cruise visitor there is a small shopping arcade consisting of 12 shops and 12 market-stalls, in an architectural atmosphere of vintage St. Maarten landmarks. Harbour Point Village is meant for those visitors who remain on the vessel or who go on an island-tour and return to the vessel. Those remaining on the vessel still have the opportunity to visit Harbour Point Village and purchase souvenirs for family and friends back home. For those who went on an island tour and did not have time to do any last minute shopping once they return to the cruise facility, Harbour Point Village presents such an opportunity. What lies in the Heart of the Harbour Point Village Project The design considerations of Harbour Point Village were based on meeting the primary interest of the local community and government. A total of 12 shops and 12 market stalls are occupied as follow:
The Concept of the Village:
The basic concept for the construction of this village was to bring back the old days. The developers chose to reach this goal by artfully duplicating old buildings form Philipsburg. Merely old buildings, which had been destroyed or demolished in the past, so they could bring the aroma and feel of the old days to the visitor enhancing the visitors total experience.
There are already several traditional, high quality shopping centers on the island. This is why this shopping arcade had to be special. Not only for shopping and entertainment, but also to give the visitors a genuine feeling of St. Maarten’s History and Culture. The village is reminiscent of those days long gone, but not forgotten.
